Over half of US Jews say Netanyahu’s actions have intensified anti-Semitism in US, poll finds out
A new survey has found out that a clear majority of American Jews believe that the actions of Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu have intensified anti-Semitism in the United States.
According to the Mellman Group poll conducted for the Jewish Electorate Institute, 56% of Jewish voters in the United States hold an unfavorable view of Netanyahu.
This concern splits along party lines, as among Jewish Democrats, 65% share the view, compared with 46% among independent voters and 34% among Republicans.
The survey also revealed that 60% of respondents would like Netanyahu to be replaced as the head of the Tel Aviv regime, while 16% would support his re-election.
The publication notes that most American Jews are not closely following next month’s elections in the Israeli-occupied territories.
Additionally, 52% of respondents supported reducing or completely ending $3.3 billion in US military aid to Israel. This included 17% who want aid eliminated entirely and 36% who want it reduced.
The reduction was supported by nearly two-thirds (63%) of Jewish Democrats. Conversely, 67% of Republicans and 65% of independent voters opposed cuts and wanted to keep funding at current levels.
Jewish voters still heavily favored the Democratic Party. In a generic congressional ballot, Democrats lead Republicans 71% to 23% among Jews.
At the same time, 60% of respondents believe that anti-Semitism is growing in the Republican Party, while 57% believe it is intensifying in the Democratic Party.
The Mellman Group conducted the survey between August 25 and September 3, with the participation of 800 Jewish registered voters online. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
