Head home while you still can, senior Iranian lawmaker advises remaining US forces
Iran’s parliamentary security chief says the Islamic Republic’s naval forces have demonstrated its ability to manage security in the Persian Gulf, advising remaining American forces to seize the chance to leave the region while they still can.
“Iran's Navy just sent a clear message: The security and stability of the Persian Gulf are managed by Iran,” Ebrahim Azizi, head of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, wrote in a post on X on Wednesday.
“To the remaining forces: Save what's left of your gear and head home while you still can, and focus on defending your own borders!” he added.
The statement followed remarks by IRGC spokesman Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi, who said the United States lacked the capacity to maintain a long-term military presence in West Asia.
“It (the US) faces severe attrition, both in terms of the morale of its military forces in the region and its weapons and warships,” the spokesman said.
Mohebbi said the logistical and financial costs of maintaining naval deployments were becoming increasingly difficult for Washington in the face of Iran’s asymmetric deterrence, saying the US Navy had effectively been pushed out of the Persian Gulf.
He noted that, before the latest unprovoked US-Israeli aggression against Iran, about 30 to 40 American warships and naval vessels were present inside the Persian Gulf, but today not a single one of them was in the region.
Iran’s Armed Forces retaliated against the aggression with at least 100 waves of decisive reprisal, targeting sensitive and strategic hostile targets across the region.
The US announced a unilateral ceasefire amid the unremitting retaliation on April 7.
The Islamic Republic has also closed the Strait of Hormuz in response to enemy violations, and has been defending the closure by uncompromisingly targeting trespassing vessels and the American naval assets seeking to escort illegal transit through the waterway.

“US warships have distanced themselves at least 400 kilometers from the Strait of Hormuz,” Mohebbi said.
