US boxed into a stalemate, not a lot of options open to it: Analyst

International lawyer Barry Grossman says Washington has trapped itself in a stalemate, unable to escalate and resorting instead to sporadic strikes and an unlawful blockade in the Strait of Hormuz.

He argues Iran is acting within international law by controlling its territorial waters, targeting only military assets, and responding proportionately to US attacks.

Grossman adds that Persian Gulf states hosting American bases have made themselves legitimate targets, while the US continues to hit civilian‑linked infrastructure.

He also insists Iran’s proposed shipping toll is modest, legal, and far less provocative than the American embargo, accusing Western governments of “mind‑blowing hypocrisy” in ignoring US violations.
