North Korea hardens military stance as Kim loses patience with Trump

Leung says the commissioning of North Korea’s second brigade is aimed at expanding the country’s nuclear and naval capabilities, rather than being a direct response to recent military drills. He says Kim Jong-un has grown frustrated with what he describes as Trump’s “theatrics” — pursuing engagement while continuing pressure and demanding North Korea’s surrender.
According to Leung, Pyongyang sees a stronger military deterrent as key to securing the country and creating room to focus on its economy and domestic stability.
