Israeli airstrikes across southern Lebanon kill 17, including two infants

At least 17 people, including two infants, have lost their lives and another 20 sustained injuries in Israeli airstrikes across southern Lebanon over the past 48 hours as Israel continues daily violations of a US-brokered framework agreement.

According to Lebanon’s official National News Agency (NNA), Israeli warplanes struck a three-story residential building in Kafr Rouman town of the Nabatieh governorate after midnight, destroying it.

Emergency teams recovered nine bodies, including those of two infants, from the rubble, while five people were injured.

Separately, an Israeli drone targeted a civilian vehicle in the same Lebanese town, killing two paramedics affiliated with the Islamic Risala Scout Association who were inside.

Israeli warplanes also carried out a series of strikes on Nabatieh al-Fawqa and Arabsalim areas, where a house was destroyed.

Moreover, Israeli warplanes destroyed a building in the town of Deir al-Zahrani. The Israeli army had earlier issued an evacuation order.

Intl. community urged to stop relentless Israeli aggression

Lebanese Minister of State for Administrative Reform, Fadi Makki, has called upon the international community and freedom-loving peoples worldwide to take effective action aimed at ending Israel’s relentless aggression and violations of Lebanon’s sovereignty.

“How long will this aggression against the south and its people continue? How long will Lebanon and its nation have to pay the price?” Makki said, criticizing the continued Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon.

He said that civilians, including women and children, are being massacred in various southern Lebanon towns and villages, including Mayfadoun, Ramadiyeh, Nabatieh and Arabsalim, and residential buildings as well as civilian infrastructure are being destroyed.

“The height of the barbarity and vileness of the Israeli military was the strike on Salah Ghandour Hospital” in the southern town of Bint Jbeil just a few days ago, Makki noted.

Israeli strikes destroy hospital in southern Lebanon: Health Ministry

An Israeli airstrike has destroyed a hospital in southern Lebanon, with the Lebanese Health Ministry saying 17 hospitals have been damaged by Israeli strikes since March 2.

In recent days, Israeli assaults on southern Lebanon have escalated following the Israeli army’s claim that it intercepted a drone purportedly launched by Hezbollah targeting its troops in what Tel Aviv designates as a “security zone” in southern Lebanon.

The strikes occur despite a US-sponsored framework agreement between the Beirut government and the Tel Aviv regime that was signed on June 26.

The agreement outlines a gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory in return for the deployment of the Lebanese army.

The secretary-general of the Lebanese resistance movement, Sheikh Naim Qassem, has dismissed the agreement as illegitimate, unlawful, and humiliating.

Hezbollah launched military operations against Israel on March 2 in response to the US-Israeli aggression against Iran, repeated Israeli violations of the 2024 ceasefire, and Israel’s continued occupation of Lebanese territory in the south.

Since then, despite months of negotiations, Israel has continued its military offensive against Lebanon and has killed 4,362 people and wounded 12,378 others, and displaced more than 1 million, according to Lebanese authorities.

Israel continues to occupy parts of southern Lebanon, which includes areas it has usurped for decades alongside regions taken during the 2023-2024 war. Moreover, its troops have advanced beyond 10 kilometers into Lebanese territory in the course of the current offensive.
