Iran Hormuz Strait control
Iran’s parliament speaker warns that the country has abandoned proportionality against the US attacks. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf says the US will now get faster, heavier and more painful responses if it launches new acts of aggression against Iran. Ghalibaf called for maintaining military deterrence and domestic solidarity as the two key means of countering the enemy. The speaker also touched on the new round of sanctions economic warfare by the US. He said Iran will hopefully prevail over the US in the economic warfare just as it did in the military and diplomatic spheres. Ghalibaf headed the Iranian delegation that negotiated the Islamabad memorandum of understanding. The US exited the MoU just two weeks after signing it, and has since begun a campaign of strikes and economic sanctions against Iran.
Israel Lebanon aggression
No end in sight to Israeli aggression against Lebanon; the regime’s military has carried out fresh attacks on southern parts of the Arab country, killing at least two person. The fatality took place in the town of Arab Salim in the Nabatieh district. Several others were injured as well. Israeli forces also struck a hospital in Nabatieh, completely destroying the facility. There are reports that the Israeli military has warned residents of Arab Salim to leave the town. There have also been new attacks in other areas of Nabatieh. Since March the second, more than 4,300 people have been killed in Israeli strikes on Lebanon.
Gaza mass funeral
A funeral has been in Gaza City for 100 Palestinians whose bodies were recovered from under the rubble of destroyed buildings. The funeral was held in the Zeitoun neighborhood, with coffins of the deceased Gazans covering with Palestinian flags. The victims were killed in Israeli strikes in 2023. The recovery is the latest in a slow, largely manual campaign to retrieve the dead from beneath Gaza’s ruins. In August, over 110 bodies were recovered in the Sabra neighborhood of Gaza City, following a two-week-long operation. Thousands of bodies still remain under the rubble in the war-torn territory.
