‘Miscalculated’: Iran Army says US failed to achieve war objectives

The US and Israel suffered a major defeat in their latest aggression against Iran, failing to achieve their stated objectives, says the Iranian Army spokesman, pointing to the enemy's miscalculations before and amid the war. 

Speaking at a local event in Mashhad on Friday, Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia said the enemy entered the war after making a series of miscalculations about Iran and its capabilities.

He attributed the aggression to Israeli "inducement and threats" directed at US President Donald Trump, saying Washington had pursued several objectives in its attack on Iran.

“The criminal enemy had set many goals in its attack, including destroying Iran’s missile and nuclear capabilities, overthrowing the government and, of course, partitioning Iran. However, it failed to achieve any of these objectives,” he stated.

Among the enemy’s major miscalculations, he listed its “failure to correctly understand the Iranian people” and its “failure to recognize the military capabilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

Akraminia also pointed to the enemy’s mistaken assessment of Iran’s political structure and its failure to anticipate Tehran’s ability to control the Strait of Hormuz.

He further cited the failure of NATO and US Western allies to join the war against Iran as another major miscalculation by the aggressors.

“The enemy is weak in the war of wills,” Akraminia said, contrasting this with the Iranian nation’s strong resolve.

He attributed Iran’s resilience to its religious beliefs, firm determination and experience gained from previous wars, saying these factors had strengthened the country’s ability to withstand the aggression.

Trump refuses to rule out CIA-led armed riots in Iran as US war fails to deliver

US President Donald Trump has refused to rule out authorizing the CIA to arm elements inside Iran to fuel a violent uprising, as Washington has failed to achieve its war aims more than six months after launching it.

Akraminia also stressed that the enemy had demonstrated weak military and economic resilience during the aggression.

“The great Iranian nation, by following the directives of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and the guidance of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and by relying on the capabilities of the Armed Forces, will ultimately emerge victorious in this war,” he stated.

The latest round of aggression against Iran began on February 28, when US and Israeli forces launched large-scale strikes on Iranian territory.

Iran’s Armed Forces responded with daily waves of missiles and drones targeting US and Israeli assets across the region, and closed the Strait of Hormuz to US and allied vessels.

On June 17, Iran and the US signed the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in an effort to end the wars across all fronts.

In recent weeks, in violation of the MoU, the US has continued its naval blockade of Iran and struck multiple locations in southern Iran, prompting Tehran to target US military facilities across the region and close the strategic waterway again.
