Araghchi reaffirms Iran’s firm support for Palestine
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has reiterated the Islamic Republic’s firm support for Palestine against the occupying Israeli regime.
Araghchi was meeting with Basem Naim, a member of the political bureau of Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, in Tehran on Wednesday.
Iran’s top diplomat emphasized the country’s “principled” and “decisive” stance to continue to support Palestine against the occupiers, as well as defending the cause of Palestine liberation and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with al-Quds as its capital.
Araghchi also said Tehran will continue to support the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people in international forums, including meetings of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and BRICS, as well as the upcoming session of the United Nations General Assembly.
He also appreciated the leadership of Hamas for expressing solidarity with the Islamic Republic and the Iranian people during the war of aggression imposed by the United States and Israel.
For his part, Naim once again expressed the condolences of Hamas leaders and the Palestinian people on the martyrdom of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, as well as a number of Iranian commanders, prominent figures, and civilians in the US-Israeli aggression which began on February 28.
He praised the role of the martyred Leader in defending the Palestinian cause.
Naim briefed the Iranian minister on the latest developments in Palestine and the ongoing Israeli crimes in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.
“The approach of the Zionist regime’s criminal prime minister is to continue fomenting war and carrying out the genocide of Palestinians, as well as forcibly displacing the Palestinian people by pursuing the inhumane policy of imposing a blockade and preventing humanitarian aid from entering the Gaza Strip,” he said.
The Hamas official called for an immediate and serious action by the international community, particularly the Muslim countries to confront the Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people and to support the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.
Earlier in the day, Naim met Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf, who said fighting against the United States and its interventionist policies in West Asia has become the common goal of Iran and regional resistance groups.
He said the United States had demanded an end to the activity of resistance groups operating in the region as part of a draft agreement with Iran to end the war.
Ghalibaf said Iran rejected the demand and instead insisted on a condition to agree to a deal that required the United States and Israel to end their attacks on Iran and Resistance forces.
