Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has said that the country and the regional resistance front pursue the same authentic path in their fight for justice.
Qalibaf made the remarks during a Wednesday meeting in Tehran with Basem Naim, who serves as head of the Islamic Relations office of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas.
“The foundation and essence of these struggles lie in the war of truth against falsehood and in confronting arrogance, and the spirit of resistance has manifested itself in a new form each time over the past 50 years,” Qalibaf said.
“Our path must remain on an essential course, and we must preserve the resistance front to continue the war of truth against falsehood.”
Qalibaf said fighting against the United States and its interventionist policies in the West Asia region has become the common goal of Iran and regional resistance groups.
“Today, even regional governments that are infatuated with the United States admit that this country causes insecurity in the region,” he said.
He said the United States had demanded an end to the activity of resistance groups operating in the region as part of a draft agreement with Iran to end its joint aggression with Israel against the country.
Qalibaf said Iran rejected the demand and instead insisted on a condition to agree to a deal that required the US and Israel to end their attacks on Iran and its allied resistance forces.
The parliament speaker, who has also served as Iran's top negotiator in indirect talks with the US after the end of the aggression in mid-April, said Iran will remain open to talks with the US and views negotiations as a means of confronting the enemy.
"If one day we stop fighting the United States and the Zionist (Israeli) regime in all its various forms, that day will be the day of defeat,” he said.
Naim, for his part, hailed Iran's way of confronting the US as a global superpower and said that many countries around the world were surprised by Iran's response to the US-Israeli aggression.
He said that the Palestinian resistance against the Israeli regime is a continuous struggle and will not end until no trace remains of the Israelis in the Palestinian territories.
