US-Israeli war on Iran to persist, worsening global economic fallout: Analyst
The latest tit-for-tat strikes between the United States and Iran have reignited direct hostilities after a period of relative calm, raising fresh concerns over the prospects of a wider escalation and the economic consequences of the confrontation.
Against this backdrop, Nick Mottern, a drone researcher, activist and US Navy veteran based in Northampton, Massachusetts, argues that the renewed attacks were not unexpected, blaming Washington and Israel for being determined to pursue a military course.
Mottern believes the aggression could continue intermittently, driven in part by political calculations ahead of the US midterm elections, while warning of potentially disastrous consequences for the global economy.
He also argues that the US military and political establishment is seeking to minimize the human and military costs of the war by increasingly replacing personnel with machines and drones, a shift he sees as becoming an increasingly important feature of US warfare.
