Iran’s Army chief: Martyrdom is our heartfelt wish, but crushing the enemy must come first
Commander of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Army says martyrdom is a cherished aspiration for Iran’s Armed Forces, but stressed that their priority is to defeat the enemy through resistance.
“Martyrdom is an honor and our heartfelt wish, but before that, we wish to achieve victory by standing firm and fighting against the enemy, and then, with pride, join our martyred Imam and our dear martyrs,” Major General Amir Hatami said, addressing the congress of 3,785 martyred Army personnel in Gilan Province.
Hatami said that during the recent US-Israeli aggression, the enemy sought to destroy Iran’s missile and drone capabilities, but the armed forces continued launching missiles and drones against the enemy with maximum intensity until the final moments of the aggression.
He added that the Armed Forces also stood firmly against the enemy in various areas, including air defense, and that a number of the enemy’s unmanned and manned aircraft as well as strategic equipment were damaged.
General Hatami also rejected claims by Iran’s enemies about the condition of the country’s armed forces, saying such claims did not reflect reality.
“The enemy claims that it has destroyed the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Armed Forces, while they themselves know that the armed forces have always stood, and will continue to stand, against the enemy with strength, innovation, creativity, and courage,” he said.
The senior military commander and member of the Supreme National Security Council also paid tribute to those martyred in the recent wars, acknowledging that Iran had lost a number of its great personnel and suffered damage to facilities and equipment.
“We did lose martyrs and dear ones in this war, and some of our facilities and equipment were also damaged,” Hatami said, adding that the Iranian Armed Forces and people had nevertheless defended the country’s security and independence “with all their strength.”
Hatami described national unity and cohesion as among the most important realities of Iranian society.
He said the Iranian people have stood together under the leadership of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and that their solidarity was growing stronger.
