Iran pursues implementation of MOU; US bad faith prevented regional stability: Qalibaf
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf says Tehran is actively pursuing the full implementation of the recent Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), blaming Washington's breach of commitments for the ongoing instability in the region.
Speaking during a high-level meeting with Pakistan’s Army chief, Qalibaf emphasized that it was the United States' bad faith and breach of commitments that prevented stability in the region, further eroding international trust in the country.
The meeting took place on Tuesday evening between Qalibaf and Field Marshal Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan.
The discussions were framed within the context of Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to help foster peace and security in West Asia.
During the talks, Qalibaf, who also serves as the head of Iran’s negotiating delegation, reviewed multiple instances of US non-compliance regarding the Islamabad MOU.
He stressed that the obligations of both parties under the agreement are unambiguous.
"It was America that, through its bad faith, prevented the establishment of stability in the region and created yet another reason for distrust in this country," Qalibaf stated.
Reaffirming Tehran’s steadfastness, the Iranian legislative chief dismissed any notion that the Islamic Republic is susceptible to external coercion.
"We are actively pursuing the implementation of the MOU's conditions," he said. "It is the United States that must adhere to its commitments based on the agreement."
Pakistan reaffirms commitment to stability
In response, Field Marshal Asim Munir underscored Pakistan’s dedication to its role as a stabilizing force in the region.
He assured the Iranian side that Islamabad will continue its diplomatic and strategic efforts to restore peace, security, and stability across West Asia.
The Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is a tentative agreement between Iran and the United States, mediated by Pakistan alongside Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, designed to bring an end to the war in the region.

Signed in mid-2026, the agreement mandated the immediate and permanent cessation of all military operations across all fronts, including Lebanon, and outlined specific conditions for de-escalation
However, Tehran has recently announced the suspension of its own obligations under the framework, asserting that Washington shattered the accord through its own aggressive actions and bad faith.
Munir’s ongoing diplomatic shuttle between Washington and Tehran highlights Pakistan’s critical role as a mediator attempting to salvage the framework and prevent further escalation.
