Hezbollah chief: Israel only understands language of force

Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem delivers a speech on August 14, 2026, on the occasion of the anniversary of Lebanon's victory in the 2006 33-day war against Israel.

Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem says Israel’s 33-day war against Lebanon in 2006 has proved that the occupying regime only knows the language of force.

He made the remarks in a speech on Friday on the anniversary of Hezbollah’s victory against Israel in the 2006 war.

“August 14, 2006, marks the end of the 33-Day War (Operation True Promise) and the resistance against the Zionist regime's massive aggression against Lebanon.”

Noting that the war began with the capture of two Israeli soldiers by Hezbollah with the aim of securing the release of Lebanese abductees from Israeli jails, he said, “The course of events showed that diplomacy without the application of military pressure has been ineffective and that the regime understands only the language of force.”
