Houthi: Quran desecration part of wider Zionist-American war on Islam
Leader of Yemen’s Ansarullah movement Sayyed Abdul-Malik al-Houthi has condemned repeated insults to the Holy Quran as a “Zionist-American” act and part of a broader hostility toward Islam and Muslims.
The remarks came after American national Jake Lang burned and desecrated a copy of the Quran in the United States, an incident condemned by Yemen’s Foreign Ministry as a recent insult to the Holy Book.
Al-Houthi said the repeated insults to the Quran expose hostility toward sacred principles, the divine message and values of goodness and justice.
“The repetition of Zionist-American insults to the Holy Quran exposes their clear hostility toward all sacred principles, their hatred of the divine message and their hostility toward all values of goodness and justice,” al-Houthi said in a televised address on Thursday.
He said such actions could not harm the Quran’s status or sanctity, stressing that the hostility toward the Holy Book stems from its teachings on justice, resistance to oppression and the liberation of human beings from domination.
Al-Houthi called on Muslims to strengthen their relationship with the Holy Quran in order to reach the highest levels of awareness, vigilance and insight and fulfill their sacred and great responsibilities.
He said the Yemeni people would continue defending Islamic sanctities and the Holy Quran, saying this is clearly demonstrated by their demonstrations protesting the desecration of the Quran.
Al-Houthi said the acts are part of broader schemes such as the “redrawing of the Middle East” and the “Greater Israel” project.
He also cited the scandal surrounding Jeffrey Epstein, crimes in Gaza and other continuing scandals as evidence of the realities that God has revealed in the Quran about the nature of those behind such actions.
“The scandal of Jeffrey Epstein and the crimes in Gaza and other successive and continuing scandals are all evidence and manifestations of those same facts that God has revealed in the Holy Quran about their nature,” he said.
Al-Houthi criticized the responses of Islamic governments and peoples to the repeated Quran insults as insufficient and called for stronger political and economic pressure.
He particularly urged Islamic countries and peoples to boycott American goods and products from countries supporting the desecration of the Quran, saying stronger measures are needed in response.
Al-Houthi said the repeated “Zionist-American” insults to the Holy Quran are an open expression of hostility toward Islam and all sacred values.
