Leader appoints outgoing top security official Zolqadr as his political adviser
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei has appointed the outgoing top security official, Mohammad Baqer Zolqadr, as his political adviser.
In a decree issued on Sunday, Ayatollah Khamenei said the appointment was made given Zolqadr’s “valuable” experience.
The Leader expressed hope that Zolqadr would successfully carry out his new responsibilities and contribute to advancing the ideals of the Islamic Revolution.
Zolqadr, a veteran military commander, was appointed by President Masoud Pezeshkian as secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) in March with the endorsement of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution.
Earlier, Ayatollah Khamenei appointed former IRGC chief commander Mohsen Rezaei as his representative to the SNSC, Iran’s highest national security decision-making body.

The appointment was formalized in a decree issued by the Leader on Sunday, citing Rezaei’s extensive experience, particularly his role as one of the pioneering military commanders during the eight-year Sacred Defense (Iran-Iraq War) in the 1980s.
