July becomes Gaza’s deadliest month of 2026 as Israel kills 152 Palestinians

Israeli occupation forces have killed at least 152 people, including 21 children, in the Gaza Strip in July, making it the deadliest month of the year, according to Gaza's Health Ministry.

The ministry said in a statement on Sunday that figures compiled by its Health Information Center showed a sharp rise in fatalities across the besieged territory during July.

The victims included 21 children, 14 women and four elderly people, which the ministry said reflected the continued impact of attacks on civilians and densely populated residential areas.

Israeli attacks on Gaza continued over the weekend, killing at least 11 more Palestinians, including two children, according to Palestinian health officials.

Medical sources said three members of a family, including a five-year-old child, were killed in an airstrike on a residential apartment in Gaza City. In comparison, another strike in Khan Younis killed three members of the Al-Hams family, including a young girl.

Palestinian medical sources say the latest round of Israeli airstrikes on Gaza has killed 8 more Palestinians, including 2 children, despite the ongoing ceasefire.

Two elderly Palestinians were also killed in Deir al-Balah, two brothers were killed in a separate strike in the same area, and another Palestinian was killed in Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza.

Since the October 2025 ceasefire in Gaza, more than 1,222 Palestinians have been killed and over 4,053 injured, according to local health authorities.

Since a ceasefire agreement, mediated by Qatar, Egypt, and the US, took effect in Gaza on October 10, 2025, Israeli forces have killed at least1,222 people and injured 4,053 others.

According to the ministry, the overall death toll since the start of the regime's genocidal war on Gaza in October 2023 has risen to 73,349, with 174,162 people injured.

Meanwhile, an overnight Israeli strike destroyed medicine warehouses attached to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah.

The ministry said two of the hospital's four storage facilities were completely destroyed and two others severely damaged, describing the attack as a "heinous crime" and calling for international intervention to protect medical facilities.

According to hospital spokesperson Khalil al-Daqran, the strike destroyed intravenous fluids, medicines and supplies used for dialysis and intensive care.

Gaza Health Ministry Director-General Munir al-Bursh condemned the attack, saying the destruction of medical supplies "turns medicine and illness itself into a tool of war."

Eyewitnesses said the strike damaged tents sheltering displaced families near the hospital, forcing many to flee once again.

The latest attacks came after US President Donald Trump announced what he described as a breakthrough in his effort to end the Gaza war, claiming that Hamas had agreed to lay down its weapons under a roadmap unveiled by his so-called Board of Peace.

The roadmap outlines the final steps of the initiative, stating that Israel would halt military operations as part of its commitment to Trump’s 20-point peace plan, which it signed last year.

A senior Israeli official, however, said the regime’s forces would not withdraw from their current positions in Gaza without the “genuine disarmament” of Hamas in the territory.

Hamas has rejected that demand, maintaining that any discussion of handing over its heavy weapons is contingent on Israel ending “all forms of aggression” and withdrawing its forces from Gaza.
