The acting defense minister says Iran will neither be caught off guard nor stand idly by amid repeated threats by the United States to escalate its illegal aerial assaults against the nation.
Brigadier General Seyyed Majid Ibn Reza made the remarks in an X post on Sunday after US President Donald Trump announced the cancellation of the planned aggression against Iran.
Earlier reports said that the US and the Israeli regime were considering joint strikes on Iran, possibly throughout the weekend, with oil refineries and power plants among possible targets.
“Although the enemy’s recent statements appear to be part of a broader campaign of psychological operations and cognitive warfare, we regard every threat as genuine and deserving of serious attention,” Ibn Reza said.
“We will neither be caught off guard nor stand idly by. Instead, we will use the threat as an opportunity to strengthen our preparedness, reinforce our deterrence, and further enhance our power.”
During a phone conversation on Saturday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan that Tehran remained prepared to defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity and national security.
“Any hostile action by the US or Israel, or participation or cooperation by regional countries in such actions, would be met with a decisive and proportionate response from Iran’s powerful armed forces,” Araghchi said.
Commander of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters Major General Ali Abdollahi said the United States is fanning the flames of a full-scale regional war.
He also warned that “any country that makes itself a defensive shield for criminal, aggressor America will burn in the fire of war.”
Meanwhile, Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee spokesperson Ebrahim Rezaei warned that Tehran’s response to any attack would not be limited to the Persian Gulf region.
The US and the Israeli regime waged their first criminal military assault against Iran, which lasted 12 days, in June 2025. Their second aggression began on February 28, 2026, and came to a halt in early April after 40 days.
In both wars, Iran’s brave resistance and successful retaliatory operations forced the enemies to accept a ceasefire.
In July, however, the US conducted waves of deadly air raids on Iran in violation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Islamic Republic, signed on June 17, to end the war.
In response, Iranian armed forces launched devastating attacks against strategic American targets across West Asia, dealing heavy blows to the terrorist US military.
