Araghchi says SCO counterparts condemned US aggression, unilateralism in sideline talks
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states have condemned the American aggression against the Islamic Republic and expressed their concern over the US unilateralism.
Araghchi met his counterparts on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers on Friday, in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan.
“All of these countries have explicitly condemned the US aggression, its unilateral and illegal actions, violations of international law, and the illegal use of force, and are seeking to find a solution to counter this trend,” Araghchi told reporters after the meetings.
Noting that in his speech he had warned that unless the international community condemn and tackle this “scourge”, everyone will be affected sooner or later, the Iranian minister added that “This feeling and concern exist in all these countries.”

He noted that the discussions he made with his counterparts showed that “there is a significant consensus and alignment in this regard.”
Iran's top diplomat added that he discussed bilateral ties and regional developments with the SCO foreign ministers, noting that “Currently, the issue of US aggression is one of the most important issues under discussion, and in the current situation, Iran has become one of the main focal points of attention and dialogue worldwide.”
On the sidelines of the council session, Araghchi met and held talks with his counterparts from Belarus, Maxim Ryzhenkov; Russia Sergey Lavrov; Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov; Pakistan, Mohammad Ishaq Dar; China, Wang Yi; and Kyrgyzstan, Jeenbek Kulubaev.
Over the past days, the terrorist US military has conducted waves of deadly strikes on southern Iran and reinstated a blockade of Iranian ports in flagrant violation of a war-termination memorandum of understanding.
In response, Iranian armed forces have launched heavy reprisal attacks against strategic American targets across the region, reimposing restrictions over the Strait of Hormuz.
The US and Israel launched an aggression against Iran on February 28, some eight months after carrying out unprovoked attacks on the country.
Iran swiftly retaliated by launching barrages of missiles and drones at the Israeli-occupied territories, as well as US bases and interests across the region.
Since then, the war has increasingly centered on the Strait of Hormuz, a vital shipping channel for about a fifth of the world's oil.
