‘Either all or none’: Qalibaf says nobody can sell oil in region if Iran can’t
Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has issued a stark warning to Donald Trump, saying either all countries benefit from regional security or none will do.
Qalibaf’s remarks came in response to the latest threat by the US president, in which he threatened to destroy one Iranian bridge or power plant for every attack on a ship in the Strait of Hormuz.
“The equation of this war is clear: either all or none,” Qalibaf wrote in a post on X.
“In a region where we do not sell oil, no one will sell oil. If our security is not ensured, no infrastructure will be safe. Security in the strait lies in the absence of American forces. We have said repeatedly that the situation in the strait will not return to what it was before the war.”
‘Trump’s threats admission of defeat’
Senior Iranian lawmaker Ebrahim Rezaei, a member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, also dismissed Trump’s threats, describing them as a confession of failure.
“Trump’s threat to bomb bridges and power plants is in fact an admission of defeat to the IRGC Navy,” Rezaei wrote on X. “He will only become more miserable.”
On Wednesday, Trump took to his Truth Social platform to declare that “from this point forward, any time the Islamic Republic of Iran shoots at a ship in the Strait of Hormuz, whether it be by Missile, Rocket, Drone, or any other device or weapon, the United States will bomb and destroy ONE BRIDGE OR POWER PLANT.”
He later added that this included facilities “located next to, or in, the Capital City of Tehran.”
The illegal US-Israeli war of aggression against Iran, which began on February 28, enters its fifth month.
The United States has launched 11 consecutive nights of strikes against Iran, targeting military sites to “further degrade Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.”
Tehran has repeatedly stated that vessels will only be safe if they coordinate with Iran and operate under its arrangements.
Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters has previously warned that any attack on Iranian infrastructure would be met with the destruction of all infrastructure across the region.
“If the Americans target a bridge or power plant in Iran, Iran will in turn strike infrastructure and bridges in the region, including energy facilities in which America has interests,” a senior military source told Tasnim News Agency.
