Strikes on civilian infrastructure part of Trump’s strategy to break Iran: Analyst

Political analyst Ali Rizk says that Washington’s war strategy was built on miscalculation, beginning with the assassination of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, which he says US President Trump believed could trigger "regime change".

He describes the current strikes on civilian and economic infrastructure as a deliberate US attempt to “break Iran,” driven by Trump’s belief that he can weaken Iran before facing political costs in the November midterms.

On the Islamabad MoU, Rizk says it is not dead but on the verge of collapse, dependent entirely on how far Trump pushes the war and whether he follows through on threats to hit major infrastructure.
