Renewed US aggression will meet firm response: FM Araghchi

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi (R) and Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir.

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has warned the United States against further military aggression, saying any renewed aggression would be met with a firm response, while condemning recent US attacks on Iran as blatant violations of the UN Charter and the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

During a telephone conversation with Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir on Thursday evening, Araghchi reaffirmed Iran's determination to defend its sovereignty and national security.

The call focused on the latest regional developments, during which Araghchi strongly condemned the US military's attacks on various parts of Iran, describing them as a blatant violation of the United Nations Charter and a clear breach of the Islamabad MoU.

He said statements by US officials, including their admission that Washington is not committed to the MoU, provided clear evidence of bad faith and underscored the continuation of its warmongering policies.

Araghchi also reaffirmed the Iranian nation's resolve and the Armed Forces' determination to defend the country's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national security.

Separately, Araghchi discussed the latest regional developments, particularly recent developments in the Strait of Hormuz, as well as other issues of mutual interest with his counterparts, Oman's Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi, Turkey's Hakan Fidan and Saudi Arabia's Prince Faisal bin Farhan.

They emphasized the importance of using diplomatic channels, maintaining close contact and coordination, pursuing regional consultations, and preventing any further escalation of tensions.

Earlier in the day, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said it had struck a US command and control center in the West Asian region and the al-Azraq airbase in Jordan with 10 ballistic missiles in the second wave of retaliation for American strikes on Iranian territory.

The missile barrage follows a sharp escalation in tensions after US forces carried out illegal and unprovoked attacks on Iran's coastal areas on Wednesday and Thursday.

Explosions were reported across Bandar Abbas, Qeshm Island, Konarak, Chabahar, and Mahshahr as the attacks extended to the Tehran–Mashhad railway and several bridges in eastern Iran.

Iranian officials said at least 14 servicemen and civilians were martyred, while another 78 were wounded.

In response, the IRGC said it launched a major retaliatory operation, striking 85 US military targets in Bahrain and Kuwait, including facilities linked to the US Fifth Fleet, Camp Arifjan, Ali Al Salem Air Base, and bases in Juffair and Sheikh Isa.

The IRGC also said it shot down a US MQ-9 Reaper drone that attempted to interfere with the operation.
