The Iranian Intelligence Ministry says its forces have taken action against a number of terrorist teams that had plotted to carry out acts of terror and sabotage in the southeastern part of the country.
In a statement released on Saturday, the ministry said four terrorist teams affiliated with the intelligence services of the United States and the Israeli regime were successfully detected and smashed in Sistan and Balouchestan province.
The statement added that the counterterrorism operations were conducted in conjunction with servicemen from the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) and law enforcement forces in the cities of Zahedan, Chabahar, Iranshahr, Khash, and Taftan.
According to the statement, five high-profile terrorists were captured during the operations, while two terrorists were eliminated in armed clashes.
A five-strong terrorist team, which was involved in shooting at military units and judicial centers in the cities of Nikshahr and Qasr-e Qand, was also identified and its members were captured.
Iranian intelligence and security forces recovered a semi-automatic sniper rifle, three Kalashnikov rifles, 17 pistols, various types of grenades, four handheld wireless communication devices, a Starlink satellite internet terminal, alongside significant amounts of ammunition from the militants' hideouts.
The Iranian Ministry of Intelligence highlighted that the Takfiri terrorists had undergone training abroad on how to carry out bombings and targeted killings, and had sneaked across the border into Iran to carry out acts of sabotage, assassinations, and terrorist attacks.
They were, however, detected and nabbed before they could take any action.
Separately, the Public Relations Department of Tehran's IRGC Seyed al-Shohada Base announced in a statement that its forces had identified and captured six individuals over the past few days, who were affiliated with foreign and anti-Iran intelligence services, and were attempting to send video footage and news scoops to them.
The detainees actively participated in foreign-backed January riots, and provoked others to chant anti-Islamic establishment slogans.
The individuals were detected and captured following rigorous, accurate, and round-the-clock surveillance and intelligence operations executed on various social platforms, including Instagram and Telegram. They were arrested during separate anti-terror operations.
