Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian says the nation will prove that the ideals that the late Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei struggled to uphold will continue after his martyrdom.

In a message on the social media platform X on Saturday, Pezeshkian reaffirmed the Iranian nation's enduring loyalty to the martyred Leader after massive crowds of mourners attended a farewell ceremony for late Ayatollah Khamenei at Tehran's Grand Imam Khomeini Mosalla in a historic display of national unity.

"The great nation of Iran, with hearts full of sorrow and wills filled with hope, will prove that the flag the martyred Leader strove to keep aloft will never fall to the ground," he wrote.

Pezeshkian also cited a verse from the Holy Qur’an stating that God will bestow favor upon the oppressed, make them leaders and heirs to the land.

Ayatollah Khamenei was martyred in a terrorist US-Israeli strike on February 28, the opening day of their joint war of aggression against Iran.

The aggression, which also claimed the lives of many senior officials and countless ordinary civilians, prompted Iran to stage at least 100 waves of retaliatory strikes against sensitive American and Israeli targets across the region.

The reprisal forced the United States to announce a unilateral ceasefire on April 7.
