Iran clinches Greco-Roman team title at U20 Asian Wrestling Championships

Iran claimed the Greco-Roman team crown at the U20 Asian Wrestling Championships after collecting nine medals in Pattaya, Thailand.

Iran finished atop the standings with 190 points, securing five gold, one silver and three bronze medals during the Greco-Roman competition. 

The U20 Asian Wrestling Championships, organized under the auspices of United World Wrestling (UWW), are being held in Pattaya from July 1-5, bringing together the continent's top young wrestlers across Greco-Roman, women's wrestling and freestyle disciplines. 

The Iranian squad won gold medals through Armin Shamsipour (55kg), Ali Gharibbi (63kg), Alireza Mohammadhosseini (82kg), Amirsam Mohammadi (97kg) and Amirhossein Abdoli (130kg).

Mohammad Kazemi earned silver in the 72kg class, while Amirali Heydari (60kg), Mohammadreza Gholami (67kg) and Amirhossein Nematzadeh (87kg) completed the team's medal haul with bronze.

Accordingly, the Iranian team showed dominance at the continental level with the team capturing medals in nine of the 10 weight categories contested.
