A new research paper has exposed a dangerous escalation in the Israeli occupation’s use of sexual violence as a systematic strategic weapon amid its ongoing genocidal war in the besieged Gaza Strip.
The paper, released by the Palestinian Center for Political Studies, draws on official UN reports, most notably the United Nations secretary-general’s report issued in May 2026.
For the first time, this report added Israel to the list of parties suspected of committing sexual violence in armed conflicts.
Titled “The War on the Palestinian Body: Sexual Violence Between Strategies of Subjugation and the System of Impunity,” the study examines documented testimonies from Israeli detention centers.
It cites multiple international human rights reports confirming that these violations are not isolated incidents but part of a deliberate, systematic policy aimed at humiliating and destabilizing Palestinian society.
The center describes the study as a qualitative leap in the battle of narratives, combining political, legal, social, and psychological analysis.
It urges the establishment of a comprehensive national system for documentation and accountability, calling it a vital pillar for achieving justice in the future.
Through this publication, the Palestinian Center for Political Studies continues its pioneering role in producing strategic research that uncovers hidden facts and presents them effectively to both local and international public opinion, strengthening the Palestinian cause in global media and human rights forums.
In late April, UN experts expressed grave concern that sexual violence has become a calculated tool of the Israeli occupation in its genocidal campaign.
They expressed dismay over the international community’s inaction, which has enabled total impunity for these crimes.
Israeli forces have systematically destroyed sexual and reproductive healthcare facilities across Gaza, leading to preventable deaths and illnesses among women and girls due to pregnancy- and childbirth-related complications.
Experts warned of “irreversible long-term effects on the mental health, reproductive health, and fertility prospects of Palestinians as a group.”
In the West Bank, both children and adults face targeted violations against their bodies and dignity, including sexual harassment, invasive body searches, and threats of sexual assault, often carried out inside or near their homes.
