The Israeli occupation regime has claimed responsibility for the martyrdom of six members of the Lebanese Islamic resistance Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, in yet another blatant violation of the fragile ceasefire that forms part of understandings between Iran and the United States.
According to statements by the Zionist military, five Hezbollah fighters were targeted and martyred in the town of Zawtar al-Sharqiya after approaching occupation forces.
The regime’s air force separately claimed to have killed a sixth fighter in the Ali al-Taher Heights area of southern Lebanon.
These attacks come amid ongoing Israeli aggression that began on March 2, when the Zionist regime launched a wide-scale assault on Lebanon. The offensive has resulted in the martyrdom of thousands of Lebanese citizens, widespread destruction, and the displacement of more than one million people.
Lebanese health authorities have reported more than 4,100 martyrs and over 12,000 wounded since the start of this latest round of aggression.
The Zionist regime has seized and continues to occupy significant areas in southern Lebanon. Some of these territories have been under illegal occupation for decades, while others were re-occupied following previous conflicts.
Israel maintains a presence in roughly one-fifth of Lebanese territory in the south, defying calls for full withdrawal.
Despite the ceasefire being tied to broader understandings involving Iran and the United States, the Israeli regime has repeatedly violated the truce. It continues its strikes and ground operations, targeting resistance positions and civilian areas alike.
Recent reports indicate continued Israeli fire in southern Lebanon, even as diplomatic talks proceed in Washington, with Hezbollah firmly rejecting any arrangement that does not guarantee complete Israeli withdrawal from occupied Lebanese land.
Hezbollah has responded to Israeli provocations and occupation forces with effective operations, including ambushes that have inflicted casualties on invading troops. The resistance has made clear that it will not stand idly by while the Zionist entity violates agreements and threatens Lebanese sovereignty.
Iran has consistently supported the Lebanese people and the resistance front, emphasizing that true security in the region requires an end to Israeli occupation and aggression. Iranian officials have reiterated demands for the full withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon as a prerequisite for any lasting peace.
