A senior Hamas official has praised Iran’s steadfast support for the Palestinian cause and its unwavering backing of the Palestinian people against the Israeli regime.

A member of the political bureau of Hamas Basem Naim, in a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Tuesday evening, praised the Islamic Republic’s consistent and firm positions regarding the Palestinian cause and its uninterrupted support for the Palestinian people.

During the call, the two sides discussed and exchanged views on the latest developments and progress in the Iran-US negotiations, as well as the situation in Palestine, particularly in the besieged Gaza Strip.

Naim conveyed the greetings and regards of the Palestinian resistance group leadership to the leadership of Iran and welcomed the signing of the framework agreement between Tehran and Washington.

As part of the memorandum of understanding recently signed by the US and Iran, the Islamic Republic stresses  cessation of aggression on all fronts, including Lebanon. The MoU also established a 60-day negotiation framework between the two sides.

Naim also commended Iran’s strong steadfastness in the face of the recent US-Israeli war of aggression and praised the Islamic Republic’s consistent and resolute stance toward the Palestinian cause and its unwavering support for the Palestinian people.

The Hamas official further stressed the importance of continuing the support, especially in the Gaza Strip, in light of the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people despite the signing of a ceasefire agreement in Sharm el-Sheikh last October.

For his part, Araghchi thanked Hamas for its supportive positions and reaffirmed the Islamic Republic’s continued support for the Palestinian people and their just cause until the full realization of their legitimate national rights.

He stressed that Iran’s leadership, represented by the negotiating delegation, continues to raise the issue of the ongoing Israeli aggression against Gaza, the repeated violations committed by the aggressor regime, and the continuing genocide despite the ceasefire agreement, in all international forums as well as in discussions with mediators and the American side during the ongoing negotiations.

In conclusion, Araghchi called for a broad international political movement in support of the Palestinian people and stressed the necessity of compelling Israel to halt its aggression and its plans aimed at eliminating the Palestinian presence on its own land, particularly in the Gaza Strip.
