Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Islamabad on Monday, where he was welcomed by Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at the start of his visit to the Pakistani capital.
Pezeshkian and the high-ranking Iranian delegation accompanying him were received upon arrival at Nur Khan Air Base by Pakistan's top civilian leaders in a ceremony organized by the host country.
A number of Pakistani officials, along with Iran's ambassador to Islamabad, Reza Amiri Moghadam, attended the reception. The welcoming ceremony was broadcast live by Pakistan's state television and other news networks.
Pakistan arranged an official reception at the airport to honor the Iranian president's visit.
As part of the ceremony, Pakistan Air Force fighter jets conducted a flypast over the area where Pezeshkian's aircraft landed, paying tribute to the visiting Iranian leader.
The honors also included a 21-gun salute for the Iranian president and the accompanying senior delegation.
