Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has warmly welcomed the wise and guiding message from the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, emphasizing full commitment to his directives in defending the nation’s dignity, independence, and revolutionary ideals.
In his statement on Thursday, Araghchi expressed deep appreciation for the message from Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei, who said in a message earlier in the day that Iranian officials have made extensive efforts out of compassion and goodwill to reach a memorandum of understanding with the US, while the American president has used various leverage points out of desperation.
Ayatollah Khamenei said he had initially held a different view but authorized the agreement based on commitments made by President Pezeshkian, who as head of the Supreme National Security Council pledged on behalf of himself and other members to safeguard the rights of the Iranian nation and the resistance front.
President Pezeshkian also stated that he will not accept any excessive US demands, the Leader said.
“I highly value the wise and guiding message of Your Excellency and am grateful for your guidelines, supports, and valuable trust,” the foreign minister said.
“These compassionate guidances will undoubtedly serve as a solid foundation for safeguarding national honor, protecting the rights of the great Iranian nation, and responsibly advancing the ideals of the Islamic Revolution,” Araghchi said.
The top Iranian diplomat made the remarks during the solemn days of Ashura, underscoring the spiritual and revolutionary spirit guiding Iran’s diplomatic efforts.
He assured the Supreme Leader that the entire apparatus of the Islamic Republic’s foreign policy will be fully mobilized in line with his directives.
“With the assistance of Almighty God and the Immaculate Imams (peace be upon them), and with complete adherence to Your Excellency’s guidelines and wishes, all capabilities of the country’s foreign policy will be employed to secure the supreme interests of the Islamic Republic of Iran, preserve the rights of the noble Iranian people, and safeguard the dignity, independence, and power of this land,” he stated.
Araghchi stressed that Iranian diplomats will act with vigilance, prudence, and steadfast resistance, leaving no stone unturned to protect national interests against all challenges.
The foreign minister’s message highlights the unified front within the Islamic Republic’s leadership and its unwavering resolve to pursue an independent foreign policy rooted in revolutionary principles, self-reliance, and the defense of the oppressed.
The MoU, signed remotely by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and US President Donald Trump, calls for a permanent end to hostilities across all fronts, the removal of the US naval blockade within 30 days, the restoration of commercial traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, a reconstruction plan worth at least $300 billion, and the lifting of US sanctions.
Under the MoU, the two sides have entered a 60-day negotiation period, with the goal of reaching a comprehensive final agreement. In-person negotiations are scheduled to begin on June 19 in Switzerland, with Pakistan and Qatar serving as mediators.
The agreement followed an unprovoked US-Israeli war of terrorism against Iran that began in late February.
