The Islamic Republic of Iran Army air defense units have managed to intercept and successfully destroy an enemy Orbiter drone in the skies over Qeshm Island.

The Army’s Public Relations Department announced in a statement on Saturday that the compact and lightweight drone belonging to the “aggressor US-Zionist enemy” was detected and shot down by the Army Air Defense Force.

The statement noted that the unmanned aircraft was brought down by the Iranian Army air defense systems operating within the integrated network of the country’s Joint Air Defense Headquarters.

On May 26, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) announced that its air defense units had shot down a US MQ-9 drone over the Persian Gulf, warning any violation of the ceasefire by US aggressors would be met with a severe response.

The IRGC Public Relations Department said the US “terrorist army”, in continuation of its interventionist adventurism in the region and aggressive behavior, entered Iran’s airspace in the Persian Gulf region.

According to the statement, following precise intelligence monitoring, the IRGC air defense units identified and downed an MQ-9 drone while defending the country’s territorial airspace.

The statement further said that IRGC forces also fired at an RQ-4 drone and an intruding F-35 fighter jet, forcing them to flee and leave Iran’s territorial airspace.
