Hezbollah condemns US sanctions as desperate attempt to bolster Israeli aggression

Hezbollah has strongly condemned the latest US sanctions imposed by the Departments of State and Treasury.

Hezbollah has strongly condemned the latest US sanctions imposed by the Departments of State and Treasury, describing them as a desperate bid by Washington to intimidate Lebanon’s free people and revive the Israeli regime’s failing aggression against the country.

The United States on Thursday placed sanctions on nine individuals, accusing them of enabling Hezbollah to “undermine Lebanon’s sovereignty.”

The US Treasury Department claimed the designations were for “obstructing the peace process in Lebanon and impeding the disarmament” of Hezbollah, while the State Department targeted members of Lebanon’s parliament, an Iranian diplomat, and security officials in governmental institutions.

The sanctioned individuals include four members of Hezbollah: Mohamed Abdel-Mottaleb Fanich, a leader in the group’s executive council; Nizammeddine Fadlallah, an elected member of the Lebanese parliament; and longtime officials Ibrahim al-Moussawi and Hussein Al-Hajj Hassan. Also targeted were Iranian ambassador-designate to Lebanon Mohammad Reza Sheibani, and two officials from the Hezbollah-allied Amal Movement, Ahmad Asaad Baalbaki and Ali Ahmad Safawi.

In its official response, Hezbollah dismissed the sanctions as a blatant US effort to pressure Lebanon into surrendering its right to resist Israeli occupation.

The Lebanese resistance movement made clear that Washington’s punitive actions are designed to shield the Israeli criminal regime after its repeated military and political failures to crush the Lebanese people’s resolve.

“The sanctions issued by the US Departments of State and Treasury against Lebanese elected deputies, army and public security officers, and officials in Hezbollah and the Amal Movement are an attempt by the US to intimidate the free Lebanese people in order to strengthen the Zionist aggression against our country,” the statement said.

It added that the US sanctions are also meant to give the Israeli regime “a false political boost after the failure of its crimes to dissuade Lebanese from exercising their legitimate right to resist in defense of their homeland.”

Hezbollah pointed out that the sole “crime” attributed to the targeted deputies and officials is their steadfast refusal to disarm the resistance or endorse the humiliating surrender schemes the US is pushing to serve Zionist interests.

“This accusation targets the majority of the people who adhere to the resistance and reject surrender,” it stressed.

“These sanctions are a badge of honor for those subjected to them, and a further confirmation of the correctness of our choice,” it said.

“In their effects, they are not worth the ink they were written with, and will have no practical impact on our choices and on the continuation of the work of our brothers and officials in the service of their people and the defense of their interests and sovereignty.”

The statement also highlighted the suspicious timing of the sanctions, issued on the eve of meetings at the Pentagon, describing the move as a naked attempt to pressure Lebanon’s official security institutions and subordinate the state to American tutelage.

“As for the targeting of Lebanese officers on the eve of meetings at the Pentagon, it is a blatant attempt to intimidate our official security institutions and subject the state to the conditions of US tutelage,” Hezbollah said.

“This decision is drawn up by those who claim to be friends of the United States, which seeks to undermine national institutions. The Lebanese authorities must defend their constitutional, security, and military institutions in order to preserve national sovereignty and the dignity of Lebanon and the Lebanese people.”

The US sanctions come as part of Washington’s broader strategy to weaken the Axis of Resistance, which continues to stand as the primary obstacle to Zionist expansionism and US hegemony across West Asia.

Observers note that such coercive tactics have consistently backfired, only strengthening the unity of the resistance front and the Lebanese people’s commitment to defending their homeland.

Hezbollah reaffirmed that the right to resist occupation remains an unbreakable principle, rooted in the will of the Lebanese nation and fully aligned with the broader regional struggle against Zionism.
