US-Israeli war to determine meaning of ‘good’ and ‘evil’ for present and future: Tehran

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman says the US-Israeli aggression against the country is not a conventional war over land or resources, but a historic confrontation that will define the very concepts of good and evil for the present era and generations to come.

In a post on his X account early Wednesday, Esmaeil Baghaei addressed “every decent human being” regardless of religion, ethnicity, or nationality, as well as people of all faiths.

“To Muslims, Jews, Christians, Sikhs, Hindus, Buddhists, and all others of faith, and to those who follow no formal religion but hold deeply to the universal values of peace, justice, and human dignity: The US-Israel launched this war of aggression on 28 February 2026, for a second time in less than a year, while Iran-US were engaged in diplomatic negotiations.”

He said that “What has been unleashed upon our peace-loving nation is not just another conflict.”

“This is not merely a war over land, resources, or geopolitics. This is a war that will determine the very meaning of ‘good’ and ‘evil’ in our time and for future.”

Baghaei drew a stark moral contrast between the two sides, slamming US and Israeli forces for violating “every law of war and basic human decency,” including targeted killings of children, missile strikes on women’s sports halls, and the torpedoing of unarmed vessels “for more fun.”

“This is a war between professional liars who fabricate justifications for atrocity, and a proud people who defend their homeland and human dignity relying solely on their own strength and resolve,” he noted.

Baghaei described Iran’s forces as acting with “a clear conscience,” defending their homeland and human dignity, relying solely on their own strength and resolve.”

He called the struggle “defining for the future of humankind,” warning that it will decide whether “civilization’s hard-won achievements — human rights, the rule of law, and basic morality — will survive or be swept away.”

Baghaei concluded with a direct appeal to global conscience: “Silence is complicity with evil. Find the moral courage to speak, to act, and to stand on the right side of history — before the world descends into an abyss of lawlessness and subjugation. The choice is yours. And history will remember.”

On February 28, the United States and Israel initiated an unprovoked war against Iran with the assassination of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and several high-ranking military commanders.

In response, the Iranian Armed Forces carried out 100 waves of counterattacks over 40 days, targeting US and Israeli military assets, which resulted in significant damage.

A Pakistani-mediated two-week ceasefire was brokered on April 8, where the Iranian delegation returned to Tehran without an agreement, citing deep mistrust regarding Washington’s willingness to honor its commitments.

Iran has made clear that any return to ceasefire negotiations depends on the lifting of the US naval blockade. Officials have argued that the continued blockade constitutes a violation of the truce.
