The Rafah crossing with Egypt is the sole route in or out of Gaza for nearly all of the territory’s more than two million inhabitants. It has remained closed for most of the war.
Despite a ceasefire last year, the Israeli regime refuses to fully open it and allows only a few medical evacuations every day. The International Commission to Support Palestinian People’s Rights says the strict Israeli measures have turned the Rafah crossing into a tool of control and domination rather than a humanitarian passage.
