Iranians have taken to the streets of Tehran and other cities nationwide to renew their pledge of allegiance to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Sayyed Mojtaba Khamenei on the birth anniversary of Imam Reza, the eighth Shia Imam.

Crowds of people on Wednesday rallied in Tehran from Imam Hossein Square to Azadi Square, where they gathered in a show of national unity, carrying national flags and renewing their pledge of allegiance to the ideals of the Islamic Revolution.

The gathering was also a manifestation of the people’s support for the armed forces and the negotiating team.

Several officials, including Mayor of Tehran Alireza Zakani, were among the participants in the event.

“This popular movement on the birth anniversary of Imam Reza is a message of support and standing on the path of truth in obedience to the leader,” Zakani said.

‘US, Israel did not know Iran’s people well’

At the gathering, Gholam-Hossein Esmaeili, the chief of staff of the former president, said unity among the Iranian people has always been a principal factor in defeating the enemy.

“National solidarity is the most important manifestation of the enemy's defeat despite the sanctions and economic blockade,” he said.

“The enemy has repeatedly tried to achieve its goal by creating division among the people, but they did not know our people. Our people may have political differences with each other, but in defending the country and confronting the enemies, despite all differences, they are united and coherent.”

Since the start of the US-Israeli aggression on February 28, Iranians have been on the streets to show support for the Islamic establishment and the armed forces.
