The Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) says cells affiliated with the United States, the Israeli regime, and Britain have been identified and dismantled in the provinces of East Azarbaijan, Kerman, and Mazandaran.
In a statement on Saturday, the IRGC said the cells were engaged in networking, arming, espionage, market disruption, commodity smuggling, spreading economic rumors, and orchestrating street riots as part of preparations for an enemy military attack.
The statement further said that the IRGC Intelligence Organization of East Azarbaijan Province, in its second operation in recent days, identified and arrested seven individuals affiliated with monarchist terrorist groups.
These elements, while acquiring weapons and preparing sabotage operations, were sending coordinates of sensitive locations to their foreign handler.
The statement added that the IRGC Intelligence Organization of Mazandaran Province identified and arrested 69 individuals, including elements affiliated with monarchist groups, individuals linked to the Israeli regime, traitorous elements, and economic mercenaries.
According to the statement, the cells were pursuing sabotage operations, and a number of cold and thermal weapons, as well as communication equipment, were discovered and seized from their hideouts.
“The IRGC Intelligence Organization of Kerman Province identified and struck 51 main enemy elements and spies,” the statement said, adding that these include the arrest of three espionage teams linked to enemy intelligence services, the arrest of two cells affiliated with Baha’ism, the dismantling of a four-member armed operational cell affiliated with monarchists, and six media operatives linked to the terrorist Iran International network.
These individuals, while communicating with a foreign handler, were seeking to disrupt the market and to recruit and organize people to incite chaos and riots, it added.
The arrests come after the US and Israel’s latest bout of unprovoked aggression against the Islamic Republic that began in late February.
Authorities emphasized the importance of public vigilance, noting that prompt reporting of suspicious activities to the police emergency center helps prevent any destructive activity and actions aimed at sowing insecurity.
The country's intelligence bodies and law enforcement forces have detained numerous subversive elements amid the aggression, while the Islamic Republic's Armed Forces have confronted the aggressors with waves of decisive and successful retaliatory strikes.
