Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian says no power in the world can force the Iranian nation into submission, slamming double standards in international policies.
In remarks on Wednesday, Pezeshkian criticized current double standards in international policies, an apparent reference to policies pursued by Western powers, stressing that any military offensive against sovereign countries is in sheer violation of all accepted international principles.
His comments, made during a visit to various departments of Tehran Province’s Emergency Organization, came after a US-Israeli military coalition waged an unprovoked war of aggression against the Islamic Republic on February 28, assassinating Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and several high-ranking military commanders as well as killing hundreds of civilians.
The aggression also targeted economic centers, bridges, including residential homes, schools, universities, hospitals, and medical and relief centers.
“What justified military aggression on our country? What justification exists within international law and humanitarian principles for targeting civilians, elites, children, and destroying vital centers such as schools and hospitals?” Pezeshkian asked.
Forty days into the war, a Pakistan-brokered two-week ceasefire went into effect but Washington-Tehran negotiations in Islamabad failed to reach a deal due to the American delegation’s excessive demands and shifting goalposts.
“Iran is not seeking war and instability, instead, it has always emphasized the importance of dialogue and constructive interaction with all countries of the world. However, any attempt to impose any will on the country or force it to surrender is doomed to fail and the Iranian nation will never cave in to such an approach,” the Iranian president stressed.
While stressing the need for national unity and cohesion, Pezeshkian also praised “unparalleled and exemplary unity” of Iranians during the 40-day war” that “frustrated the enemies’ objectives.”
He also described emergency services as a key pillar of national crisis management that guarantee vital services under difficult conditions.
In response to the imposed and illegal war on Iran, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) launched over 100 waves of missile and drone operations against key US and Israeli targets.
The retaliatory attacks, carried out as part of Operation True Promise 4, forced hundreds of US troops out of the region and inflicted billions of dollars in damage to US assets in the Persian Gulf countries.
