Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf warned that if the United States or Israel target Iranian infrastructure, Iran will not hesitate to retaliate by striking key US and Israeli infrastructure across the region.

In a post on his X account on Tuesday, Qalibaf warned that threats by the US and Israel to attack Iran's energy and service infrastructure, aimed at paralyzing daily life in the country, will not go unanswered.

“Today, our verdict is the rule of 'an eye for an eye', straightforward, without exception… If they start a war on infrastructure, we will undoubtedly target theirs," he said in the Persian-language post.

“The enemy should know that whatever they do, it will undoubtedly face a proportional and immediate response; no act of aggression will go unanswered,” Qalibaf, a former top military commander, added.

The warning comes amid reports that the US and Israel may decide to bomb major power plants and oil and gas production facilities in Iran, aiming to disrupt the daily lives of Iranians, escalate their ongoing aggression, and foment unrest within the country.

Iran has made it clear that such an attack would cross all red lines and will be met with a harsh response.

Iran's retaliatory strikes on US assets in the Persian Gulf countries have already led to restrictions on the production and transportation of oil and natural gas through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital waterway responsible for a significant portion of global energy demand.

This has fueled a surge in global energy and commodity prices, sending shockwaves through the world economy.

However, Iranian authorities have indicated that more extensive retaliatory attacks could disrupt operations at regional oil and gas production facilities, as well as water desalination plants, potentially causing a complete shutdown of energy production and bringing daily life to a standstill across the region.
