IRGC forces ready for USS Gerald Ford to reach ‘designated perimeter’: Cmdr.

The USS Gerald R. Ford transits the Suez Canal, March 5, 2026.

The commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Force has reacted to reports that a new US aircraft carrier is headed to the region, saying Iranian forces are monitoring the situation closely.

Brigadier General Majid Mousavi said on Sunday that Iranian forces are prepared to respond if the US aircraft carrier Gerald Ford arrives in regional waters.

“They say the Gerald Ford aircraft carrier is coming to the region. We are waiting for them to reach the designated perimeter,” he stated.

The USS Gerald R. Ford is the lead ship of the US Navy’s newest class of aircraft carriers and is considered one of the most advanced warships in the world.

Iranian officials have repeatedly warned that any hostile military presence near the country’s borders will be closely monitored and could prompt a response from Iranian defense forces.
