In Numbers: Civilian toll of US-Israeli aggression on Iran as war enters 9th day

Israeli-American war of aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran entered its ninth day on Sunday, with civilians and civilian infrastructure bearing the brunt of the onslaught.

The unprovoked and illegal war was launched on February 28, in the middle of indirect nuclear talks between Tehran and Washington, as the United States and the Israeli regime carried out indiscriminate strikes across multiple Iranian provinces, including Tehran.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, along with several top-ranking military commanders, was assassinated in the first wave of the cowardly aggression.

In the days that followed, as Iranian armed forces inflicted heavy blows on the enemy through powerful retaliatory operations under the banner ‘Operation True Promise 4’.

The aggressors then expanded their attacks on civilian infrastructure across the country, targeting hospitals, schools, heritage sites, as well as oil and water facilities.

According to Iran’s health ministry, the latest figures as of Sunday, March 8, are as follows:

Human Cost:

  • Fatalities: More than 1,200 martyred
  • Injuries: Over 10,000 civilians injured

Among the Martyrs:

  • Children: 200 children under the age of 12
  • Women: Approximately 200 women

Among the Injured:

  • Women: Around 1,400 women

Hospitals & Emergency Services:

  • Hospitals damaged: 25 (with 9 now completely out of service)
  • Pre-hospital emergency bases: 18 destroyed
  • Ambulances: 14 destroyed

Primary & Community Health Centers:

  • County health centers: 2 damaged
  • Comprehensive health service centers: 17 damaged
  • Rural health houses: 2 damaged

Historic sites in Tehran have also been damaged, and attacks on an oil refinery have now put the region’s environment at serious risk, said the health ministry.
