Hezbollah says won’t hesitate to take proper action against aggression

Sheikh Naim Qassem, the secretary general of the Hezbollah resistance movement

The Hezbollah secretary general says the Lebanese resistance movement has stood firmly against all threats and aggression, stressing that his fighters will not hesitate to take proper action when necessary.

“I know this is a difficult phase, but together we have overcome the challenges of perseverance. We have been patiently addressing the difficulties of this stage over the next fifteen months. When the time comes for any action, we will not hesitate,” Sheikh Naim Qassem said on Monday on the occasion of the first anniversary of the mass funeral procession of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Sayyed Hashem Safieddine, the former leaders of Hezbollah.

“Our path is clear: The land is ours, and our right to defend and resist is legitimate. We will remain steadfast and prepare ourselves for both scenarios: either victory or martyrdom. There is no room for defeat, no matter the sacrifices. Victory comes only from Almighty God.”

The Hezbollah chief hailed the “magnificent” funeral procession of the late Hezbollah chiefs, saying the million-strong attendance marked a landmark in the history of Lebanon and the region.

“The people’s tribute to the late secretaries-general of Hezbollah was unmatched, and the whole world witnessed the deep roots of the Resistance in the lives of Lebanese nationals. It gave a distinct impression of absolute determination and was a concrete manifestation of the slogan, ‘We remain faithful to the covenant,’” Sheikh Qassem stated.

The Hezbollah chief said the funeral was a pledge of allegiance and a renewal of the covenant to continue the Resistance. He characterized the event as a restoration of the initiative in rebuilding Hezbollah’s capabilities, and an affirmation of its popular unity.

He said the funeral was postponed until security conditions allowed for a proper ceremony to be held.

‘Nurtured by Britain, backed by US’

Sheikh Qassem said Israel was an arrogant and colonialist regime initially nurtured by Britain, and now fully supported by the United States and its Western allies.

“It is managed by America and serves its interests first and foremost. America wanted it as a tool in West Asia to subdue regional countries and peoples. It sought to annihilate the Palestinian cause and legitimize the existence of Israel on the entire occupied Palestinian territories.”

Sheikh Qassem said recognition of al-Quds as the capital of Israel, acknowledgement of Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Golan Heights, abandonment of the so-called two-state solution, US-backed war of extermination on Gaza, and the ongoing expansion of settlements in the West Bank, along with the oppression of the Palestinian nation, are all indicative of Washington’s decision to control West Asia by force.

“Likewise, the war of aggression against Lebanon was waged through Israeli strikes in a bid to materialize US dominance.”

The Hezbollah leader said US President Donald Trump’s “Peace Through Strength” policy means colonialism and imposition of his will through military power.

“The ‘Greater Israel’ project intersects with US hegemony, which uses Israel as a tool as long as it serves the function of domination; and intervenes directly when Israel is unable to do so, as in the case of Iran.”
