A Lebanese lawmaker says US naval threats against Iran would be met with the Islamic Republic’s decisive missile force, warning that Tehran possesses the capability to send American vessels to the seabed.
Hassan Ezzeddine, a member of the Lebanese parliament, addressed the ongoing indirect nuclear negotiations between Iran and the United States on Saturday, saying the Islamic Republic had entered the talks “from a position of faith in God and from a place of strength in the field,” adding that its stance “is not only not weak, but fully powerful.”
He said this assessment did not rule out the strength of the United States and its allies, but stressed that the Islamic Republic had still come to the negotiating table relying on its position on the ground and on capabilities that allowed it to stand up to Washington.
Ezzeddine said if US President Donald Trump and Washington’s partners believed Iran would raise the white flag or submit to their conditions, “such a thing will never happen.” According to the legislator, the Islamic Republic “will neither retreat from its rights, nor abandon its national and ethnic interests, nor bargain away its security, stability, or system.”
The MP said the negotiations were limited to the nuclear file and that within this framework a solution was possible, provided it was based on equality and respect for the rights of the Islamic Republic.
‘Iran has surprises in store for adversaries’
He warned that if diplomacy failed and the opposing side opted for military action, it should bear in mind that not all of Iran’s capabilities were fully known to US intelligence agencies, other global spy services, or even satellite surveillance. According to Ezzeddine, Iran has “surprising tools and capabilities” for confronting the United States.
Referring to the stance adopted by Leader of the Islamic Republic Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Ezzedine said Iran’s response to any fresh American military adventurism lied in possessing “a missile capable of sinking American warships,” describing this as the equation guiding the Islamic Republic’s conduct and predicting defeat and loss for the United States.
Earlier this week, Ayatollah Khamenei responded to repeated US military threats following Washington’s deployment of additional forces to the region.

“The American president repeatedly says that their military is the strongest in the world. The strongest military in the world, however, can sometimes be struck so hard that it cannot even get back on its feet,” the Leader states.
“They keep saying, ‘We have sent an aircraft carrier toward Iran.’ Fine—an aircraft carrier is certainly a dangerous piece of equipment. But more dangerous than the carrier is the weapon capable of sending it to the bottom of the sea,” Ayatollah Khamenei added.
