The Iraqi Nujaba Movement and Kata’ib Hezbollah have announced the launch of nationwide campaigns to register volunteers to support the Islamic Republic of Iran, amid heightened regional tensions and warnings of potential military escalation involving the United States.
Nazem al-Saidi, head of the Executive Council of Iraq’s Nujaba Movement, said volunteer registration centers would be opened across all Iraqi provinces.
The move comes as part of the continued supportive stance of Iraqi resistance groups toward the Islamic Republic of Iran, amid escalating regional tensions and ongoing US threats against Iran.
Al-Saidi stated that any alignment with Washington’s interests amounts to “a repeated deception,” warning against foreign interference in Iraq’s sovereignty and decision-making.
In a statement, al-Saidi said historically, US involvement in the region has not resulted in development but has instead led to exploitation and loss of national will.
The statement emphasized the need for a unified stance among Iraqi Shia groups in response to overt interference, asserting that hostile actors are seeking to undermine Iraq’s identity, sovereignty, and national decision-making.
The Nujaba Movement warned that any attack against Iran, or against Shiite religious authorities and Iran’s leadership, would be met with an unexpected response that would significantly alter the regional balance and affect US presence and interests.
Separately, Akram al-Kaabi, leader of the Nujaba Movement, said that any US or Israeli strike on Iran would lead to a broader regional confrontation involving US forces, bases, and interests across West Asia.
Earlier, Abu Hussein al-Hamidawi, secretary general of Kata’ib Hezbollah, issued similar warnings, stating that confrontation with Iran would have severe consequences for those involved.
Kata’ib Hezbollah has already opened a registration office in Baghdad to enlist volunteers from its members and Iraqi citizens in support roles related to Iran.
Images circulating in regional media showed al-Hamidawi participating in the registration process, drawing widespread attention.
In a statement released Sunday evening, al-Hamidawi said Iran has supported just causes of the Islamic world for more than four decades, adding that the time has come for allied groups to stand by Tehran in the face of continued US threats.
Meanwhile, the Islamic Resistance in Bahrain, referring to US threats against Iran, warned that any American adventurism in the region would dangerously escalate tensions.
The statement said that any regional intervention would impose serious responsibilities on all parties, adding that US threats to target Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah seyyed Ali Khamenei, constitute a dangerous escalation and that any harm to the position of religious leadership would have grave consequences.
Earlier, Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem said during a rally in Lebanon in solidarity with Iran that a war against Iran could ignite the entire region.
He said Hezbollah would not remain indifferent if Iran were endangered. He said the United States seeks global dominance and, in coordination with Israel, aims to strike resistance movements across the region.
