Muslims facing ‘major confrontation’ led by US and Israel: Hezbollah chief
The secretary general of Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement says the Muslim world is facing a full-scale US-led campaign, backed by its Western allies and Israel, hailing resistance fighters for their heroic sacrifices in the face of Israeli acts of aggression.
“The Muslim Ummah is confronting a major confrontation spearheaded by the tyrant United States, and supported by the West and savage Zionist regime,” Sheikh Naim Qassem said in a Saturday message addressed to wounded resistance combatants.
He appreciated the exemplary steadfastness of injured resistance fighters, saying, “You have followed the Righteous Path for the sake of safeguarding the homeland, liberation of occupied territories, and restoration of humanity.”
Sheikh Qassem stressed that resistance fighters have managed to thwart at least 75,000 attempts by Israeli forces to infiltrate into southern Lebanon.
“Your resilience in the course of the Battle of the Mighty Ones, and even before and after the confrontation, foiled Israel’s expansionist policies, frustrated its land expropriation schemes, and pulled the plug on the US so-called ‘New Middle East’ project,” the Hezbollah chief pointed out.
He prayed for the speedy recovery of wounded resistance fighters from every pain and affliction, stating that the Lebanese nation will be victorious as long as it follows the path of steadfastness and resilience.
Sheikh Qassem went on to salute the wounded combatants, stating they brought great honor to Lebanon.
He also paid utmost respect to Hezbollah members who were wounded, many of them critically, in a simultaneous explosion of hundreds of handheld pagers across Lebanon in September 2024.
“Salutations to their brothers and families who stood by them, and to all those who treated them, supported them, and extended a helping hand,” Sheikh Qassem said.
The Hezbollah chief sent his "greatest greetings" to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
