Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has penned a letter congratulating Pope Leo XIV, leader of the Catholic Church, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Jesus Christ and the upcoming Gregorian New Year.

In his Thursday message, the Iranian president said the birth of Jesus Christ (peace be upon him) is a reminiscence of his spiritual virtues, including freedom, fight against oppression, and compassion, which are also praised in the Holy Qur’an.

“In the current era, when the crimes of superpowers due to their unlimited power drive the international community toward war and destruction, resolving human issues requires collective wisdom, a fresh perspective, reflection, and contemplation,” he said.

Therefore, he added, it is possible to find a new path toward achieving peace, security, and freedom for all oppressed nations through effective actions by statesmen and thinkers independent of the interventionists.

The Iranian president expressed hope that the world would witness peace, security, and freedom by following divine commands and the invaluable teachings of the prophets.

Pezeshkian wished for the Pope’s good health and success, prosperity for the followers of Jesus Christ, and the establishment of peace and tranquility across the world.
