Demonstrators gathered outside Downing Street in London to protest US military strikes on boats off the coast of Venezuela and the seizure of the country’s oil tankers.
Protesters on Saturday said the UK government was complicit in the bombing of Venezuelan fishing boats and had stolen 31 tonnes of Venezuela’s gold.
They demanded that the gold be returned to Venezuela for development purposes.
Trump has been weighing options, including an attack on Venezuelan territory, as part of a campaign his administration describes as an effort to stop the flow of illegal drugs that have killed Americans.
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has denied having any links to the illegal drug trade and has accused the US of seeking regime change out of a desire to control Venezuela’s vast oil reserves.
