A pro-Israel donor has publicly urged US President Donald Trump to pursue a third four-year term in office, suggesting that legal avenues might exist despite constitutional limits.
Speaking alongside Trump at a Hanukkah reception at the White House on Tuesday, Miriam Adelson said she had discussed the legality of another Trump presidency with prominent pro-Israel attorney Alan Dershowitz.
During the reception, Adelson, who is 80 years old, said she agreed with Dershowitz and conveyed her support for the possibility of a third term for Trump, leading to chants of “‘Four more years” from the audience.
“I met Alan Dershowitz,” she told attendees after Trump invited her on stage. “I said, Alan, I agree with you. So we can do it. Think about it.”
Trump, recounting a private exchange, said Adelson had encouraged him to consider another run with the promise of further financial backing, offering an additional $250 million for his campaign.
As one of Trump’s significant political donors, Adelson has contributed generously, including pouring $106 million into Preserve America, an election group that supported Trump’s successful 2024 bid.
Trump also noted the involvement of Adelson’s late husband, Sheldon Adelson, as a frequent visitor to the White House during his previous presidency, emphasizing his advocacy for Israel.
In his remarks, Trump turned to “growing opposition” to Israel in US domestic politics, particularly in Congress, highlighting a shift in the influence of the Jewish lobby and Israel over the years.
“Fifteen years ago, the strongest lobby in Washington was the Jewish lobby. It was Israel. That’s no longer true,” he said.
He further accused some lawmakers of being “anti-Semitic,” singling out Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar, among others.
Both lawmakers have repeatedly rejected accusations of anti-Semitism, stating that their criticism is directed at the Israeli regime’s policies rather than Jewish people.
A video clip of Adelson’s remarks later circulated on the social media platform X, where she was heard discussing the legality of a third Trump term and expressing her willingness to provide an additional $250 million in support to the president.

The 22nd Amendment to the US Constitution prohibits presidents from serving more than two elected terms, a restriction that critics say makes any third term unconstitutional.
Trump, however, has not ruled out the possibility of seeking a third term, saying, “There are methods which you could do it.”
This comes as protests against the Trump administration continue, with activists surrounding the White House to deliver a people’s indictment against the US president.
The protesters say their regular actions are to inspire millions of Americans to return to the nation’s capital and non-violently oust an administration they describe as fascist.
