On Friday, tens of thousands of university and high school students staged anti-government rallies in more than 50 cities across the Italian peninsula and islands.
The rallies held in all major Italian cities, including Rome, Naples, Milan and Turin, followed a national day of strike called by the union of students.
Students are calling on the Georgia Meloni government to scrap a bill which would introduce members directly appointed by the government itself and local authorities in university boards, and that "would accelerate the process of marketization, commercialization, and militarization of high schools.
Many schools have already organized day trips to military barracks and other facilities for their students, while military personnel have visited our schools.
Also, arms industry companies have invited students to hold work experience there.
It's unacceptable.

Italy is the country in the European Union that invests the least on education as a percentage of its gross domestic product, spending 3.9% of GDP against the OECD average of 4.7%
The government's attack on the education system is really grave as it is the criminalization of Italian students for the protest against terrorist Israel for its genocide in Gaza, with the complicity of the Italian government.

Students are also protesting against a parliamentary bill which, parties supporting the Italian government say is intended to curb anti-semitism.
The students reject that arguing that the bill is designed to silence criticism of Israel and suppress pro-Palestine demonstrations.
The fascist bill’s only aim is to attack criticism of Israel.
Let me make an appeal to all those who are watching this, they are targeting us today.
It will be your turn tomorrow.

The only goal of this bill is to repress our mass mobilizations for our right to education and in support of the Palestinian people.
We won't stop mobilizing for a better school system and a better world.
