Iran’s under-23 Greco-Roman wrestling team has captured the world championship title after securing three golds, one silver, and two bronze medals at the tournament held in Novi Sad, Serbia.
Gold medals went to Iman Mohammadi (72 kg), Gholamreza Farrokhi (87 kg), and Fardin Hedayati (130 kg). Sajad Abbaspour won silver in the 60 kg category, while Ahmad Reza Mohsennezhad (67 kg) and Abolfazl Mohammadi (82 kg) took bronze.
The team amassed 143 points to finish atop the overall standings, ahead of Ukraine with 96 points and Azerbaijan with 93.
This marks the third time Iran’s under-23 Greco-Roman team, led by coach Hassan Rangraz, has won the world championship, having previously claimed the title in 2022 and 2024.
The team missed the 2023 event due to visa issues in Albania.
