Protesters outside the Israeli embassy in South Africa on Friday called for the release of South African activists and others detained by Israeli forces from the Gaza-bound Sumud flotilla.

In Pretoria, protesters with pro-Palestinian placards and flags called on the South African government to close the Israeli embassy and expel its ambassador from the country.

Protesters claimed that Israel was committing crimes against humanity.

More demonstrations are expected to take place at various venues around South Africa, which is pro-Palestinian and has accused Israel of committing genocide in Gaza through its case at the International Court of Justice.
