Hassan Bajoulvand captured gold in the Men’s Discus Throw F11 at the New Delhi 2025 World Para Athletics Championships and dedicated his medal to the late commander Amir Ali Hajizadeh.
Bajoulvand threw 41.70 m in the F11 final to claim first place. He had won a silver medal in the same event at the 2024 Paris Paralympics.
After the victory, he said, “I dedicate this gold medal to the martyr commander Amir Ali Hajizadeh and to the martyrs of Lorestan.” The late IRGC commander was assassinated during the 12-day US-Israeli aggression against Iran in June.
Bajoulvand’s achievement marks Iran’s fourth gold at the New Delhi championships. The Iranian delegation has also taken four bronze and two silver medals so far, placing Iran 10th in the medal standings.
The New Delhi 2025 edition is the 12th World Para Athletics Championships and the first time India is hosting this event.
The championship, held from 27 September to 5 October at New Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, features 186 medal events and has attracted over 1,000 athletes from around the world.
